This latest artwork “Reflections” 33cm x 33cm Acrylic on canvas, was an unexpected surprise. Being school holidays, I’ve been doing some experimenting with acrylic pouring, with my 12 yo daughter, and this was one of my results.
I’ve long admired the videos on Instagram of people doing acrylic pouring but hadn’t given it a go until last week. This painting emerged when using up some of the leftover paint and using a blowing technique.
Acrylic pouring has so many variables in the result, that no two will ever be the same. Consistency of paint, how much you use, method of applying paint, amount of heat/silicone. I put my own spin on the technique and love the result. I also love the polished effect that a box frame brings the artwork. Unexpectedly one of my favourite artworks at the moment, so different to my previous work, but I enjoyed the new process and results.
"I am always inspired by the sea, it is the place that makes me feel reflective and at peace. There are so many moods and emotions created by the weather at the beach, which makes it a fascinating subject to use as inspiration. Calm, energy, fierceness, busy, quiet, relaxing, activity, conversations, playing, laughing, happiness, sadness, bright colours, dark colours, these are just some of the emotions from a visit to the beach and give me so much to work with." - Sandra Vincent
